About Lift Over 50
Lift Over 50 is the evidence-first guide to strength training after 50. Every guide answers one question, links the study or guideline behind each number and shows the date it was last checked.
Who it's for
- Starters who haven't lifted in years, or ever, and want to know how heavy and how often.
- Returners coming back after an injury, surgery or a busy decade.
- Women in and after menopause who want the plan the trials support.
- Adult children helping a parent do more than walk.
Why readers choose it
Most strength advice for over-50s is a list of exercises with no source behind it. Here you get the answer in the first sentence, then the trial or guideline it comes from, linked next to the number. Guides are written for readers in the US, UK, Canada and Australia and name your national guideline where it differs.
How we research
- Primary sources, linked inline: guidelines such as the CDC guidance for older adults and the NHS guidelines for adults 65 and over, plus systematic reviews and randomized trials.
- Real numbers: how many people took part, their age, how long the study ran and how big the effect was.
- Dates on every page: published and last-checked dates on each guide, and a check date on each source.
The editor
Alexander Gusev edits every guide on Lift Over 50, published by his Swedish company Beundra AB. He reads the guidelines and trials behind each answer and turns them into steps you can start at home this week.
